Monthly daddy/daughter date at Starbucks and Home Depot

Recently, we came to learn that Home Depot runs a free monthly workshop for kids where they make something simple and different each month.

Locally, Home Depot just happens to be next door to Starbucks, so once a month, Ellie and I start off by having breakfast at Starbucks and then doing the class at Home Depot.

At the workshops, the kids get their own “Home Depot apron” and they get an enamel badge for each thing they make. It’s a really cool way of getting kids involved with making stuff.

Last month, the kids were making a skateboard pencilcase. Ellie loved glueing and nailing the pieces together and then painting the whole thing. She was so proud of her creation!

And then this month, it was a “back to school whiteboard”. Ellie chose Gator blue and orange (since she was brainwashed from an early age) and was really happy with how it came out.

It’s such a fun way to spend some time alone with Ellie and to have her do some creating and building which she loves to do!
