4th of July: a moral dilemma

Well, today is the 4th of July, which America knows as Independence Day and the rest of the world knows as the 4th of July.

Today presents the first of many moral dilemmas to come for me. Thing is, I’m British – quite proudly so – and I never really “got” or “cared for” American culture, so imagine my quandary when I fell in love with an American and moved here.

Week 1 Baby Essentials

Well, Ellie is now officially one week old. It’s been a little testing at times, but for the most part, it’s just been incredibly fun watching her grow and learning her idiosyncrasies.

Being intentional with nicknames

Martina and I both feel quite strongly that “words become worlds”. That is, what you speak has a tremendous amount of power to change reality. There’s a lot of wisdom to be gleaned from the Bible, and one of the topics that comes up most frequently is the power of the tongue (“Death and life are in the power of the tongue”, “There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing”, “But no human being can tame the tongue.
