Ellie has always loved to read, but the other day, it fell silent in the house for a while as Ellie did something that she hadn’t done before. She managed to open up her Biggest Word Book Ever and start reading it, pointing to it, talking to it and waving at the characters. Adorable! Continue reading “Independent reading [VIDEO]”

Ellie being thrown into the air [VIDEO]
Ellie has always loved being thrown into the air, and this past weekend, as we were spending some time in the pool (something she does very regularly), she flashed tons of smiles as she repeatedly wanted to be tossed into the air. Continue reading “Ellie being thrown into the air [VIDEO]”
Big splashes [VIDEO]
Ellie adores bath time, and she was particularly furious with her splashing tonight. Continue reading “Big splashes [VIDEO]”
Ellie trying kiwi [VIDEO]
This is the first time we’ve given Ellie kiwi. At first she appears to love it, then she contorts her face in disgust. Hilarious! Continue reading “Ellie trying kiwi [VIDEO]”
Ellie’s first favourite song [VIDEO]
Ellie has already got a favourite song. Ever since she had roseola, and we had to distract her while we gave her medicine, she has been infatuated with “Happy” by Pharrell Williams, so much so that it can quickly turn crying into smiles, giggles and clapping. On the move [VIDEO]
This evening, Martina and myself were at Oma’s house, and Ellie had been playing on the floor for a while by herself. Oma started throwing the ball to her, and when it was out of Ellie’s reach, she assumed the position of crawling (as she had done many times before), only this time, she edged one leg forward, and then the other, and repeated the process. She seemed to get the hang of it pretty quickly!
So while she’s been “scooting” for 4-6 weeks, she just started crawling today after 10.5 months. So, tonight, I’m in the process of installing baby gates… Continue reading “On the move [VIDEO]”
Getting stronger legs [VIDEO]
While Ellie doesn’t crawl yet, she’s really good at “scooting” and can make her way around. She hasn’t mastered walking yet, but she’s starting to get used to being upright and strengthening her legs. Continue reading “Getting stronger legs [VIDEO]”
Entertaining themselves, and Ellie [VIDEO]
While celebrating Mother’s Day, Martina and Jenna tried to amuse Ellie, but I think they were far more successful at entertaining themselves! Continue reading “Entertaining themselves, and Ellie [VIDEO]”
Ellie’s affinity for blue ovals [VIDEO]
Whenever we give Ellie her box of blocks, she rummages through them, throwing blocks aside until she finds her favourite “blue oval”. Not sure what’s quite so special about it, but she does it without fail. Continue reading “Ellie’s affinity for blue ovals [VIDEO]”
Ellie’s first words [VIDEO]
I just spent a few days on business in Kansas City, MO, and I was sure that Sod’s law meant that I was going to miss something, and surely enough, on my final day in KC, I got a very excited text message with a video of Ellie, who said her first word. Martina managed to get Ellie to say “Dada”, which just melted my heart. She keeps repeating it, and it just destroys me. I can’t wait to see her in person when she wakes up in the morning and hear it for myself (hopefully she plays along!). Continue reading “Ellie’s first words [VIDEO]”
