Since Ellie’s maternal family is of German heritage, their tradition is to open gifts on Christmas Eve (cheating in my opinion :P), so today, we’re heading to Oma’s to open presents and enjoy Christmas festivities. Happy Christmas to all of Ellie’s family, both in the UK, and the US x x x x
Ellie knows how important dental hygeine is, so she took to helping me brush me teeth, to make sure I’m doing it right.
This is one of my favourite videos of Ellie so far, and the reason that I enjoy being a parent so much. Ellie’s really starting to enjoy cuddles, which of course, we love too.
Ellie has really taken to being read to, so this morning we enjoyed reading lots of books together in bed.
One of the greatest mysteries in life is not how intricately formed a baby is in its mother’s womb, nor how they can take on a perfect blend of their parents’ features, but how they can eat the same white liquid day in and day out, and produce such a variety of waste products at the other end!
Ellie has been especially snuggly this evening, and we’ve been making the most of it!
Parenting wouldn’t be nearly as taxing if you could just get one day off a week
Well, today marks 12 complete weeks of parenting. It’s been a rollercoaster to say the least, and that goes for all three of us.
The first 8 weeks were particularly hard. Before that point, Ellie wasn’t responding much to us, and she was just very needy, without much “reward” for Martina and me.
For the first 2 weeks, we were in the honeymoon period: we were infatuated with our new arrival, and I was at home full-time, so we could get everything done and we felt accomplished. Today was Labor Day and Ellie got her first taste of the swimming pool. She was a bit too tired the first time we tried, so she didn’t enjoy it too much, but the second time was much more successful and she enjoyed it as much as she has been enjoying her baths. All in all, a success!
