Ellie’s 5th birthday

Ellie celebrated her fifth(!) birthday this summer. To celebrate, we invited a bunch of her friends to come and celebrate at Enchanted Forest: a theme park based on fairy tales which hasn’t seen too many updates since the 1970s. However, all of the adults agreed that that was part of its charm; it isn’t flashy or over the top, but offers some great entertainment for a reasonable price without going crazy.

For her actual birthday, she was insistent on wearing her princess dress, and looked beautiful and grown up.

In many ways, it seems like she is growing up so quickly, but I know that in 13 years, as she’s getting ready to head off to college or into the wider world, I’ll laugh at how grown up I thought she was at 5 years old.

Still, for now, she’s both so grown up and still beautifully innocent. It’s a special time where we have such a strong connection and she’s enjoying learning about and understanding the world around here. She has a pure, delicate heart that cares for everyone and everything around her and she’s growing up to be an incredible person.
