Ellie’s new favourite toy

Ellie has always had an affinity for keys. She loves playing with car keys and house keys. However, we’ve always shied away from giving her our car keys, in case she loses them.

However, Mama came up with a genius idea. On Amazon, you can pick up a car key “shell” without the electronics for about $5. She now doesn’t go anywhere without her key and loves having a car key just like Mama’s.

Ellie’s 3rd Christmas

Ellie is at the perfect age for enjoying Christmas with. She’s starting to be more aware of what to expect and you can see the excitement and anticipation in her much more than last year. It’s been a whole lot of fun – perhaps too much fun. It’s been a whirlwind and it was maybe a bit too excitement for her, but it’s only once a year and I think it was worth it in the end. I can’t get over how gorgeous she is!

Ellie was even kind enough to help Jack open some of his own presents and generally be a great big sister to him.

“I’m just going to…”

While Ellie is playing at home, she’ll sometimes come up to us and exclaim that she’s “…just going to yoga…” or that she’s “…going out with [her] girlfriends…” after picking up on what we say to her when we head out somewhere.

Often she’s accompanied by her “purse” or other accessories that need to go with her. It’s really quite adorable! Continue reading ““I’m just going to…””

Fun on the farm

Yesterday, we all went to Fox Squirrel Corn Maze to have some traditional autumnal fun.

Not only was it Ellie’s first hayride, but it was mine too. We had fun playing in the cornbox, admiring butterflies, eating grilled corn and picking out pumpkins. Jack even had a good old time. Continue reading “Fun on the farm”

Well rested

When we go to get Ellie up in the morning, she’s usually sitting or standing and has been playing with her toys, so her crib is in disarray.

However, on this particular morning, I went in and to my surprise, Ellie was laying beautifully like Snow White with her covers still on and holding her Eleanor. Quite adorable if I do say so myself! Continue reading “Well rested”

Saturday morning at Starbucks

A couple of weeks ago, Ellie woke up early (around 7) and I decided that since Jack was still asleep, I’d let him and Mama get some rest, so we got dressed and took a little trip to Starbucks.

To say that it was a dream morning is putting it mildly. Ellie was so well-behaved. She sat with me and read books through and through while eating bananas and drinking tea. She wowed everyone with her abilities and then proceeded to play with me on the couch without being raucous. What a hoot! Continue reading “Saturday morning at Starbucks”

Ellie’s 2nd birthday

It’s been a couple of weeks since Ellie’s birthday now, but we’ve only just had enough time to download the photos and sort through them.

We had a really enjoyable time at Dell Holmes Park in St Pete: Ellie and all of her friends made the most of the splashpad in the blistering hot weather. Continue reading “Ellie’s 2nd birthday”

Good morning!

Being at home after the birth of Jack has enabled me to spend more time with Ellie as well.

I’ve often been going to get her in the morning, starting with an anonymous knock at her door, which causes her to run to the edge of her crib/cot and listen. I then give out a curious “Hello?” to which she responds “Hello!” This is then the face and the smile that greets me. Continue reading “Good morning!”
