Why “Ellie Grace”?

Several people have already asked us why we chose the name that we did, so here’s a little bit of background.

First of all, settling upon a name was extremely painful. I had a whole list of names that I liked, and Martina had her own list of names that she liked, and as is usually the case, there was very little overlap between the two. Continue reading “Why “Ellie Grace”?”

We don’t want to be those people that put pictures of their kids on Facebook every day. We get annoyed by it, so why would we then do that to you?

Instead, we figured we’d launch this site, where people who really want to see lots of pictures can do so, without me having to pester all of my friends who couldn’t care less.

To be sure that you don’t miss anything, you can either subscribe to the RSS feed (if you know what that is), or you can sign up to get email updates, either once a week, or once a day. There’s also a signup form in the sidebar and the footer on this website.

Visiting and Meeting Ellie

We’re thrilled to have Ellie and we know that many of you want to visit her and Martina, so we’d love to have you over so that we can introduce you.

With that said, there’s a few ground rules that I’d kindly ask you to follow:

  • Please don’t show up unannounced. All three of us are exhausted and catching up on sleep. Please arrange for a convenient time to come over with Dave (Martina won’t really be available by phone or otherwise).
  • You’ll be asked to wash your hands when you get here. It’s not that you’re particularly dirty, but we just need to protect Ellie’s still-fragile immune system for the first several weeks.
  • Please keep your visit short. 30-60 minutes will be about all we can manage to account for feedings and then getting back to sleep.
  • By all means, bring cameras if you want photos.

For those who aren’t able to meet her in person (thinking mostly of people in England), we’d love to speak to you on Skype or FaceTime. Feel free to add me (@daclements) and send me an IM so that we can find a good time for you to “meet” Ellie.

All three of us look forward to seeing you soon.
