Ellie’s 4th (!) Christmas

It always seems weird to count how many times a child has experienced an annual event, because it’s always one more than their age since their birthday is the last thing they do before turning another year older. Thus, even though Ellie is only 3, this is already her fourth Christmas, which just seems nuts!

We didn’t do too much over the holiday and just enjoyed each other’s company with few other commitments to get in the way. It was much needed. Continue reading “Ellie’s 4th (!) Christmas”

When they get along…

… they’re adorable with one another.

Like any siblings, particularly those close in age, Ellie & Jack don’t always get along.

However, when they do, Ellie is so nurturing with Jack and he really shows his appreciation for her. Today, they went to the park and Ellie very sweetly took Jack’s hand and guided him down the path towards the park. 😍 Continue reading “When they get along…”

Ellie’s Halloween costume

This year, Ellie decided she wanted to be a construction worker for Halloween again. Since we already had the costume, I was all about reusing something instead of spending money on something she’ll wear once.

She fits into it much better than she did last year, as if we needed more proof that she’s growing up and getting bigger all the time. Continue reading “Ellie’s Halloween costume”

Closet hardcore Republican

Tonight, we were telling Ellie about how there’s a presidential election in 2 days. ThE past couple of weeks, we’ve been talking about the two main candidates and who we support. Tonight:

Ellie, who do you think should be president? Hillary or Donald Trump?

Donald Trump.

Thinking that it might have been because we used his full name and not hers:

Ellie, should Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump be president?

Donald Trump.

Maybe it’s because she always chooses the second answer…

Ellie, who should be president? Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?

Donald Trump.

I then proceeded to explain some of the many reasons I don’t think Donald Trump should be president.

Ellie, Donald Trump treats women horribly and thinks that they’re worth less than men. Especially since having a daughter, I can’t support someone who thinks that women aren’t equal to men. Do you think women should be treated equally or that men should be treated better than women?

Men should be treated better than women.

😐

That means we don’t eat people

Since we’re vegan, I’ve recently been showing Ellie how to check toiletries, food and chemicals for animal testing (denoted by a bunny symbol).

Today I bought Ellie this oatmeal that was instant to try and I made it for breakfast. It was “Bob’s Red Mill Oatmeal” and all of their products have a picture of Bob on them. She sees it and says

Because it has a picture of a man on it, that means that we don’t eat people.

😂😂😂😂😂

Ellie’s first day at school

This summer, Ellie started school. She’s currently going three mornings a week and it’s been fantastic for her. She’s making friends, enjoying the independence and it’s making her much more confident and assertive.

The other day was the first time I got to take her to school and meet her teachers and classmates and I’m really happy with where she is. I’m very happy that we made the decision to have her go. Continue reading “Ellie’s first day at school”

Monthly daddy/daughter date at Starbucks and Home Depot

Recently, we came to learn that Home Depot runs a free monthly workshop for kids where they make something simple and different each month.

Locally, Home Depot just happens to be next door to Starbucks, so once a month, Ellie and I start off by having breakfast at Starbucks and then doing the class at Home Depot. Continue reading “Monthly daddy/daughter date at Starbucks and Home Depot”

Ellie’s trip to NH and MA over 4th of July

This 4th of July, we took a trip to MA and NH to visit family, attend a christening and enjoy the summer in New England.

While there, Ellie got to know her second cousins Addison, Mason and Emmerson much better and enjoyed all sorts of outings and events, like the 4th of July parade, Santa’s Village and she even got to sit in the cockpit of the plane that took her to Boston!
